Newspapers and Magazines: Personal Accounts

Access to the digital edition of several periodicals requires personal registration using your Union email account. Learn more about these resources and how to register.

Periodicals with Free Individual Subscriptions

The Atlantic

1. Go to The Atlantic's registration page

2.  Search for "Union College NY" under the institution search page

3. Log in with your Union College Credentials


Washington Post

  1. Visit  https://www.washingtonpost.com/subscribe/signup to sign-up with your Union email address. If you already have a Washington Post account with your Union email address, log in to washingtonpost.com with your account credentials.
  2. Click on your name in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. Click Account Settings, make sure your email address is verified, if not, click "Unverified" to be sent a verification email.
  4. Click the My Subscription tab.
  5. Click Activate free digital access.
  6. Once registered, you can access the digital Washington Post using browsers and apps.

New York Times

  1. Please go to nytimes.com/passes to register using your @union.edu email.
  2. Once registered, you can access the digital NYT using browsers and apps.
  3. The subscription is valid as long as you are affiliated with Union.
  4. The fastest way to renew/reactivate your subscription is to create an account using your Union credentials.

The Chronicle of Higher Education

  1. You need to register using a computer connected to the Union network. Log into the library Chronicle page (https://www-chronicle-com.union.idm.oclc.org)
  2. Click on Sign In and then on the Sign Up tab.
  3. Register using your Union email.
  4. Use this link to access your account: https://chronicle.com/account/login?goto=/

  1. Go to WSj.com/unioncollegeny
  2. Once on the page, please use your @union.edu email for registration.
  3. Create your own password: 5-15 characters long that contains at least one number. May not contain spaces, +, % or &.
  4. You will receive and email confirmation from DownJones with subject "The Wall Street Journal Order confirmation".
  5. You are set! You can also use apps to link to your subscription.

Financial Times / FT.com

  1. Access the Financial Times by using this link to their site and logging in with your Union College credentials.

  2. Click "Log in" at the top right corner
  3. Click "Log in with SSO" at the bottom of the options
  4. Enter your Union email address

Local Periodicals with Free Accounts

Instructions to register
Go to https://www.timesunion.com/

  1. Select Account/Create an Account
  2. Use your Union College email address and create a password
  3. Check your email for a verification email

Once your account is created, you can use your login for the website or TU's mobile apps.


The Daily Gazette (Schenectady)
Instructions to register

  1. Follow this link to register

  2. Enter your union.edu email address.

  3. You will be directed to another page and an activation email will be sent to you.
  4. Check your email inbox and spam for an email activation link.
  5. When you click the link you will be asked to activate your account.
  6. Click the activate account button, this will forward you to your profile page where you can set your password, log out from website, and then log back in.

Your account will then be set for accessing our content - you will also receive a morning email with a link to that day's replica e-Edition, you can unsubscribe from this email list at any time.
