Professional Associations

Professional sociological associations can provide a wealth of resources for students and professionals.  These associations publish current research, host conferences,  and can provide professional development courses. Below is a limited list of professional associations in the field of sociology. 

Association of Black Sociologists is a learned society dedicated to the advancement of scholarship by African American sociologists.

The Black Women's Agenda, Inc.(BWA) - A disproportionate number of Black women are represented within statistics related to poverty, and lack access to economic and educational opportunity. BWA is devoted to advancing, securing, and protecting the rights of these women, Founded in 1977, BWA evolved from the work of ten courageous who responded to an urgent call to recognize and articulate the needs of Black women within the then emerging women's movement.

National Coalition of 100 Women, Inc. is a nonprofit volunteer organization for African American its members address common issues in their communities, families, and personal lives promoting gender and racial equity.
