Course Affordability and Course Materials at Union College

Library, Bookstore, and Open Resources

How can the bookstore help?

The Union College Bookstore can provide a variety of different options to make your classes more affordable.

Timing

By providing adoptions as early as possible, the bookstore can find the most cost-effective materials for your classes. This also allows us to maximize the amount of materials we buy back from students, allowing our students access to a more robust used book market.

Example timetable
Term Date to submit orders
Fall April 15
Winter October 15
Spring February 1
Why so early?

Because Union is a trimester school, it has often been late to the market placing orders for used books because most schools place their orders much earlier than we do. By providing your adoptions early, the bookstore can source those less expensive titles and pass that savings on to our students.

Editions

Exploring new versus older editions can help as you plan your courses. Please consult with the bookstore if you are considering using an old edition. They can advise on availability, rental, and digital editions that may expand your options.

Inclusive Access

Inclusive Access may be a way to lower costs. Contact the bookstore for more information.
