Making an educational resource open (i.e. openly licensed and available on the web) is only the first step--an OER also needs to be discoverable and usable so that others can find your OER and know how to use it when they do.
To make an OER discoverable, consider storing your work in both:
- The Schaffer Library Repository, Digital Works: DigitalWorks holdings are indexed in Google / Google Scholar and search engine optimized so that they are almost always first page results when queried.
- An external repository, such as OER Commons: use the "Add OER" button to submit OER
To make an OER usable, consider adding a "how-to-use" page or README file that explains how to use your OER.
