Research Data Management Services

Introduction

Schaffer Library offers a variety of services and resources to faculty as they conduct their research. This guide highlights many areas, including:

  • Research data management
  • Data management plans (DMPs)
  • Open publishing agreements and open access (OA) publishing

Research data management

Research data management describes the organization, storage, preservation, and sharing of data collected and used in a research project. As you conduct your research, you likely will produce a variety of data sets whose lifecycle need to be managed.

Data management plans

Grant-funded research may request a Data Management Plan, or DMP. This plan provides details about how a researcher will manage data during their research (e.g., backups and storage needs) and what will happen to that data when the research is finished.

Open publishing agreements and OA publishing

Schaffer Library has a number of agreements with publishers that provide open access publishing without author page / author publishing charges (APCs). These agreements are helping to ensure that Union's research articles are available to as wide an audience as possible.
