Refworks is a personal information manager that allows users to create their own online database of citations that can be organized and used when writing a paper or article.

What is RefWorks

RefWorks is a personal information manager that allows users to create their own online database of bibliographic information that can be organized and used when writing a paper or article and then formatted in a variety of output styles (Chicago/Turabian, ACS, APA, ASA, etc.).

Because RefWorks is web-based, users can access their account from any computer with internet access. Data is stored on RefWork’s servers – not locally.

Ref Mobile

Grab citations on the go with RefMobile, the mobile ed. of RefWorks! RefMobile gives you the ability to view references in a RefWorks account, add a note to a reference, as  well as search and import new references. [more info]

To login if you are using Iphone or Itouch technology, or mobile phone - type in your username and password.  This will log you in to RefWorks.

Creating an Individual Account

NOTE: A new version of RefWorks is available! 

                 

Select RefWorks from the main drop-down menu on the library website.

This update to RefWorks is a new way to collect, manage and organize research papers and documents. The new version allows you to read and annotate pdfs, share folders and save citations from a website. And Write-N-Cite is compatible with Microsoft Word and Google Docs. 

  • New RefWorks users will be able to create an account with this new version (getting started). 
  • All accounts using the older version will be migrated to the new version at the end of June.
  • Current users can start using the new version now. Follow these instructions to move all your references to the new RefWorks.

RefWorks for Alumni

Union College Alumni now have the ability to establish a Refworks account or maintain their existing account! 

As part of the RefWorks Alumni Program, you are entitled to:

  •  One free RefWorks account
  •  New updates and feature releases
  •  200 MB of file attachment storage
  •  The ability to share your folder or account via RefShare
  •  Free web-based training
  •  Technical Support
