Getting Started with RefWorks: Home

Refworks is a personal information manager that allows users to create their own online database of citations that can be organized and used when writing a paper or article.

What is RefWorks

RefWorks is a personal information manager that allows users to create their own online database of bibliographic information that can be organized and used when writing a paper or article and then formatted in a variety of output styles (Chicago/Turabian, ACS, APA, ASA, etc.).

Because RefWorks is web-based, users can access their account from any computer with internet access. Data is stored on RefWork’s servers – not locally.

Ref Mobile

Grab citations on the go with RefMobile, the mobile ed. of RefWorks! RefMobile gives you the ability to view references in a RefWorks account, add a note to a reference, as  well as search and import new references. [more info]

To login if you are using Iphone or Itouch technology, or mobile phone - type in your username and password.  This will log you in to RefWorks.

Creating an Individual Account

NOTE: A new version of RefWorks is available!

Select RefWorks from the main drop-down menu on the library website.

This update to RefWorks is a new way to collect, manage and organize research papers and documents. The new version allows you to read and annotate pdfs, share folders and save citations from a website. And Write-N-Cite is compatible with Microsoft Word and Google Docs.

  • New RefWorks users will be able to create an account with this new version (getting started).
  • All accounts using the older version will be migrated to the new version at the end of June.
  • Current users can start using the new version now. Follow these instructions to move all your references to the new RefWorks.
